The original score was lost! And Thinking Cap Theatre has commissioned a new one! The new score will be debuted at this staged reading in preparation for a full production in early 2027. How exciting!!!

More About Molly’s Dream
Written and first staged in 1968, Molly’s Dream is a whimsical one-act play with music that contains echoes of early cinema (a la Marlene Dietrich in Morocco) and vaudeville comedy. The play centers on the title character, Molly, who arrives at work dejected and tired, and quickly drifts off to sleep. What follows is a playful, pointed dreamlike exploration of Molly’s longing for true love, her fear of rejection, and her grappling with societal conventions on romance and desire. Aside from a critically acclaimed 2003 revival at Soho Rep in New York City, which the playwright attended and also praised, this play has remained an unsung hero of Fornes’ canon. The play’s original score from 1968 has been lost, and the score for the Soho Rep production is not available for licensing.

This program is sponsored in part by The OurFund Foundation, Community Foundation of Broward, and The Miami Salon Group. It is presented in partnership with Wilton Women’s Week.
